A reader asks the following question:

SC,

With the schools that LYS coach and support, do you recommend a weekly lesson plan or lesson plans by 6 or 9 weeks?

SC Response

All of those options are a recipe for failure, so I recommend none of them.

The only acceptable answer is daily lesson planning. Everything else is just some version of “Winging It.”

The only thing that “Winging It” ensures is sub-optimal instruction.

That being said, daily lesson planning does not have to be an over-whelming, time consuming endeavor. At LYS we use a one-page lesson plan document. And here is the good news, our lesson plan tool is on the LYS website. It is free, and it always will be.  That is how committed we are to the supporting teachers in the lesson planning process.
