Now you are thinking, “Ok, makes since. If I want to improve the performance of my school, I have to improve teacher practice in every classroom.”
How hard can that be?
Only the hardest thing ever. Because to change teacher practice in every classroom, requires that leadership practice must change first.
From Instructional Coach to Assistant Principal to Principal to Assistant Superintendent to Superintendent to School Board Member.
And at the level that leadership practice does not change, that represents the ceiling of improved campus performance.
If you are a school leader, the good news is that when a campus is struggling, the parents, students and teachers are rarely the primary reason.
The bad news, the person responsible is often looking at you in the mirror.
